1. Bald River Falls
Bald River Falls is one of the most stunning waterfalls in Tennessee and it is less than 60 miles away from our cabin rentals in Murphy North Carolina! This spectacular 90 foot tall waterfall is located in the Cherokee National Forest and is easily accessible from Tellico River Road. In fact, you could even enjoy the falls from your car window since it is visible from a bridge across the river! Bald River Falls is gorgeous in all seasons, and it has even been known to ice over during the winter months! If you are visiting during the summer, you will love the cool spray of the falls and can find several swimming holes nearby along the Bald River.
2. Hamilton Gardens
Another one of the fun things to do near Murphy NC is Georgia’s Hamilton Gardens, which offers more than 20 acres of a woodland garden paradise! While exploring this botanical garden, you can view a diversity of native wildflowers, plants, trees, and its ecosystem. Some of the special plants found in the garden include trilliums, shooting stars, wild ginger, trout lilies, and Solomon’s seal. However, the thing that makes Hamilton Gardens truly special is the more than 1,500 rhododendrons and native azaleas within its boundaries! 3. North Georgia Wildlife & Safari Park
If you are an animal lover, take an hour drive down to the North Georgia Wildlife & Safari Park to view more than 80 species of animals! This unique wildlife park offers more options than a traditional zoo as it specializes in close experiences and personal interactions. This is your chance to interact with tons of miniature and rare breed animals, feed farm critters and even get up close to a giant tortoise! As if that doesn’t sound cool enough, you can also enjoy a drive through the safari to view animals from the comfort of your car! During your drive, you will get to see camels, zebras, warthogs, ostriches, llamas and much more!
4. Great Smoky Mountains Railroad
All aboard for a scenic train journey along the Nantahala Gorge on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad! This historic train departs from Bryson City NC, which is about an hour from Murphy NC! After leaving the train depot, this delightful passenger excursion takes you on a journey through the beautiful countryside of Western North Carolina!
