America’s Favorite Drive – The Blue Ridge Parkway

Anytime your visit the Appalachian Mountains you see beautiful scenery, towering mountains, crystal clear lakes and rivers and breathe in fresh mountain air!  Thats just a few reasons the Blue Ridge Parkway is named America’s Favorite Drive.  The Blue Ridge Parkway is 496 miles long running through the famous Blue Ridge Mountains.  It is the longest and narrowest park in the US National Parks and the most visited in the US National Parks and  in 2010 the Blue Ridge Parkway will celebrate is 75th anniversary.  While traveling along the road you will encounter historic towns with rich heritage and experience the culture of the this mountain region.  There are numerous places to visit while on your journey and here are just a few.  Grandfather Mountain is the highest peak in North Carolina in the Blue Ridge Mountain chain offering incredible 360 degree views and from the Mile High Swinging Bridge at Linville Peak.  In Blowing Rock, NC visit the Moses H. Cone Memorial Park, a beautiful country 13,000e square foot mansion estate with 23 rooms.

Another enjoyable site are the waterfalls that flow abundantly through the North Carolina mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway.  Here are just a few to check out: Looking Glass Falls, Sliding Rock Falls, Slick Rock Falls, Toxaway Falls, Tripple Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and there are many more.
