1. What to Expect at Fields of the Wood NC
Fields of the Wood is a unique place to visit during your vacation to Murphy! When you enter the park, you will see 3 symbols from the Church of God Prophecy flag that adorn the arch. Moreover, you will also see the Jewish tribe names of Simeon, Reuben, and Gad recessed in the structural post in marble. Once you continue your drive into the park, you will notice the Arise Shine marker, the Psalms of Praise, a Baptismal Pool and the Garden Tomb that dominate the lower portion of the mountain. The most famous landmark is the massive Ten Commandments that are spread across the mountainside, which has to be seen to be believed!
2. Admission, Dates and Hours
There is no admission fee to visit Fields of the Wood so you are free to visit at any time of the year! If you would like to make a contribution, there are donation boxes available throughout the park. Fields of the Wood is open daily from sunrise to sunset, and it is recommended that you allow at least 1.5 to 2 hours for your visit. Keep in mind that all of the monuments are located outdoors, so be sure to check the local weather before visiting the park and remember to bring sunscreen.
3. Directions to the Park
Fields of the Wood is located just off Route 294 and is easy to find with its stone archway entrance! When traveling from the downtown Murphy area, simply head south on Route 74 for about 8 miles, then turn right onto Route 294 West. You will find the park about 10 miles down the road on the right-hand side.
4. Park Facilities
There is a gift shop and restaurant that is open daily at Fields of the Wood NC. The Burger Mountain Cafe features sandwiches, salads, soups and beverages to satisfy your appetite. As an alternative, you are welcome to enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the lovely picnic areas or pavilions!
